Cost:   approx. VND 10 million (per team)
           payable by team captains by Week 1  (you pay your captain)

    

A great night....

....and a good turnout last night at our end of season do. Thanks to all that could make it and to BJ for having us at Al Fresco's!

A nice presentation from Sophie (who was public speaker of the day!), and once again a big thank you to all that have been a part of this season, we couldn't have done it without you.

Hope you all have a great summer.....see you in September :). For all who are leaving us this year a huge good luck, I know we will see some of you at various tournaments still.

End of Season (Season 2, 2012-2013) Do

End of Season Do at Al Fresco's

What better way to finish off a great season than to have an end of season do....and a well deserved one at that!

When: Monday 10th June, 6pm onwards

Where: Al Fresco's, Xuan Thuy Thao Dien, District 2

The same as last season, free beer, margaritas, soft drinks and finger food (until the tab has gone) for all players from Season 2. I hope you can all make it.

Season 2 2012-2013 FINALS NIGHT!

BIS OFFS CROWNED CHAMPIONS......


The battle for top spot was on...BIS Offs (1st) against last seasons champions Xe Omz (2nd). It was a match not to be missed. After the first quarter the teams were 8 a piece with some great play from both sides. The second quarter saw BIS Offs sneak in front 18-13, a lead which they maintained throughout the game. With no subs it was always going to be tricky for Xe Omz but they didn't make it easy for the BIS Offs. Great defence from Ben and as always excellent shooting from Claire along with some killer shots from Xe Omz. Final score 37-26.

The other match of the evening saw Hot Shots (3rd) take on Em Ois (4th) - Hot Shots were missing a couple of players so had Hannah and Sophie as stand in shooters for them. Em Ois were sporting a full team and took the lead in the first quarter with some great shooting from Tim. Hot Shots made a good come back in the third quarter which left people wondering which team would take the victory. With some really good defending from Ingrid it was Em Ois who got their first win of the season, beating Hot Shots 25-19.

What a great finals night.....well done everyone.

A big goodbye and good luck to those of you who are leaving us this season, especially Claire, who has done a great job with the Shooters. I'm sure we will see her at some tournaments next season :)

Bangkok Southerners Netball Tournament

A big congratulations tot the Shooters team who travelled to Bangkok for the annual Bangkok Southerner's Netball Tournament. Our team was made up of Hannah, Emma, Emily, Lindsay, Monica, Amy, Lucy, Alice, Sophie and Claire - four of which only just made it. WIth 13 teams attending the tournament from many S.E Asian countries, we were bound to come up against some strong opposition. Singapore and Hong Kong proved to be our toughest competitors (both of which made it through to the finals). Laos and Hanoi Oi's were also there to play against again. With 3 wins and 3 losses, all the girls played their hardest no matter what the score or who the opposition were. Everyone added to the positive spirit of the team and tournament. This was recognised by the tournament organisers who awarded the Sportsmanship trophy to none other than the Saigon Shooters!!!!!! Glory tastes sweet.

Top notch job by Dee and the Southerner's for organising such a fabulous tournament!

Finals Night - 3 December, 2012

Congratulations Xe Omz!!!

 

Well done to our Xe Omz team who stormed their way to victory last night to take top spot on the Season 1 (2012-2013) ladder.  After finishing second before finals night, there were certainly on a mission to reclaim their top spot position against BIS Offs.  BIS Offs had made their way to top position in the last 2 weeks of competition and looked set to take charge of the finals match.  With a few weiry legs after a half marathon (well done all) and one sick player sidelined, BIS Offs were no match for the Xe Omz (who brought in some of their top recruits for the game) who dominated play from the first quater to finish the match 28 - 10.

 

 

 

Our other battle for the night, for 3rd and 4th place was between Hot Shots and Em Ois.  With our biggest crowd for the night cheering on the sidelines we were set for an entertaining game.  There were some interesting sets of play, some of which ended in rolling around on each other!  In the third quater, Hot Shots really stole away and dispite some very positive, enthusiastic cheering from the sidelines, were unable to claw there way back.  Hot Shots took the game, 31-22, placing 3rd overall.

4th - Em Ois

 

Thank you to our umpires, Clive and Kathy, for officiating the games.  Great job!  To our scorers also (although Simon might have needed a bit of training prior)!

 

Thanks to all our wonderfull umpires for Season 1 (Alison, H, Bronnie, Sophie, Hannah and Kathy).  You were all fantastic and hope to have you back on board for Season 2.

 

Well done to everyone on a great season.  I look forward to us all celebrating together tonight at Al Frescos (7pm - thanks BJ) and hope you like your end of season gifts.

 

I am still looking for people to help out with next season so if you're interested, please let me know asap.  Without you the season wont be able to run.
