Season 1, 2012-2013 - Week 3

Season 1, 2012-2013 - Week 3

What an exciting week on court it was this week!  With the rain light enough for AIS's roof to hold up, the four teams hit the dry court.

The first game saw Hot Shots and Em Ois kick us off to a flying start.  Em Ois lead the game from early on and held this lead for the first 3 quarters.  Some stearling defence was shown by Owen and stamina from BJ in center (claiming warming up was over rated).  Alice spent most of the first half getting acquainted with the ground and laughing her way back to her feet before really finding her groove in defence.  As always, Clive showed off his fancy splits and shooting in the goals and Alison never fails to entertain with her rugby style touch downs before a free/penalty pass.  The last quarter was by far the most exciting and had everyone on the edge of their seats.  Hot Shots came back from 5 goals down to draw the game 24 all.  Great job!

The second game was against Xe Omz and BIS Offs.  Having to fight floods and taxi diversions from District 7, Xe Omz had a few new recruits to help out for the first few minutes before fielding their usual side.  BIS Offs got off to a flying start and took the lead early in the first quarter.  The game remained fast and furious for the whole match with a lot of positional changes to share the love.  Some great shooting by Tim and fabulous attack play by Sophie, Hannah and John.  Great to see Hannah back on court after her injuries, scoring a killer edge of circle shot in the third quarter.  BIS Offs managed to maintain their lead for the game, finishing 25 - 18 up.  Well done to both teams.

A big thank you to Kathy for stepping up to help umpire to cover Cat in the second game!  Three cheers for the umps.......

Injury count (nothing to be proud of!!): 3.
Despite people getting to the court early for warm up (a first for the season), the injury count continues to rise.  This week, Helen from Hot Shots took a tumble in the goal circle stunning the court into silence with her double handed court slap.  16 hours later she was confirmed with a fractured right wrist, despite H's (Em Ois) medical diagnosis on the night.  Wishing you a quick recovery, Helen!
